FAQs
- Who can use SickCert?
- Adults in Ireland who are unwell and need a sick certificate for work. You must be able to describe your symptoms accurately in the questionnaire. SickCert is not suitable for emergencies, children, or complex ongoing conditions that need in-person care.
- Is the certificate genuine?
- Yes. Every certificate is reviewed and signed by a doctor registered with the Irish Medical Council. Each certificate includes a unique verification code your employer can use to confirm it's authentic.
- How long does it take?
- Requests submitted between 8am and 8pm are processed the same business day. You'll be notified as soon as the doctor has made a decision.
- How much does it cost?
- There's one flat fee of €20 per application, shown clearly before you pay. Payment is by card and processed securely.
- What if the doctor declines my application?
- If the reviewing doctor decides a certificate isn't clinically appropriate, your fee is refunded in full. The doctor may also recommend that you see a GP in person.
- Can I get a certificate for a past illness?
- Certificates can only cover periods the doctor is satisfied are clinically justified based on your account. Backdating is at the doctor's discretion and is never guaranteed.
