- Who can use SickCert?
- Adults in Ireland who are unwell and need a sick certificate for work. You must be able to describe your symptoms accurately in the questionnaire. SickCert is not suitable for emergencies, children, or complex ongoing conditions that need in-person care.
- Is the certificate genuine?
- Yes. Every certificate is reviewed and signed by a doctor registered with the Irish Medical Council. Each certificate includes a unique verification code your employer can use to confirm it's authentic.
- How long does it take?
- Requests submitted between 8am and 8pm are processed the same business day. You'll be notified as soon as the doctor has made a decision.
- How much does it cost?
- There's one flat fee of €20 per application, shown clearly before you pay. Payment is by card and processed securely.
- What if the doctor declines my application?
- If the reviewing doctor decides a certificate isn't clinically appropriate, your fee is refunded in full. The doctor may also recommend that you see a GP in person.
- Can I get a certificate for a past illness?
- Certificates can only cover periods the doctor is satisfied are clinically justified based on your account. Backdating is at the doctor's discretion and is never guaranteed.
- Is my medical information private?
- Yes. Your questionnaire answers and clinical records are only visible to the doctors and authorised staff involved in your care, and are stored securely. See our privacy policy for full details, including how long records are kept.
- What conditions can't you help with?
- We can't help with emergencies, severe symptoms, mental health crises, or conditions that need a physical examination. If your questionnaire suggests you need in-person care, the doctor will tell you.
