About SickCert
An Irish service built around one principle: a real doctor makes every clinical decision.
What we do
SickCert lets adults in Ireland apply for a sick certificate online when they're too unwell to work. Instead of sitting in a waiting room, you complete a structured medical questionnaire, and an Irish-registered doctor reviews your case and decides whether a certificate is clinically appropriate.
Our clinical standards
Every application is reviewed by a doctor registered with the Irish Medical Council. Certificates are never issued automatically, and no one outside the clinical team — including our support staff — can influence or override a doctor's decision. If a certificate isn't appropriate, the application is declined and the fee refunded.
Your data
Medical information is sensitive, and we treat it that way. Your records are stored securely, access is limited to the people directly involved in your care, and every access is logged. Our privacy policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how long we keep it.
What we're not
SickCert is not an emergency service and not a replacement for your GP. For urgent medical care, call 999 or 112. For ongoing or complex conditions, we'll always point you back to in-person care.
